Ethical Policy

Life Sciences Perspectives (LSP) is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the dissemination of innovative research across the life sciences spectrum. LSP is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in the publishing process, upholding the principles of academic integrity, transparency, and accountability. All submitted manuscripts must adhere to international and national guidelines for research ethics.

 

1. Research Involving Human Subjects

All research involving human participants, human material, or human data must have been performed in accordance with the principles stated in the Declaration of Helsinki [1].

 

1.1. Ethical Approval and Consent

       Mandatory Approval: Authors must confirm that all protocols were approved by a relevant institutional review board (IRB), ethics committee, or equivalent body before the research began.

       Manuscript Statement: The manuscript must include a clear statement in the Methods section detailing the name of the approving ethics committee and the reference or permit number of the approval.

       Informed Consent: Written informed consent must be obtained from all participants. Authors must disclose such approvals and consent procedures in the manuscript.

 

2. Research Involving Animals

Research involving vertebrate animals or cephalopods must comply with all relevant institutional, national, and international guidelines for the care and use of animals.

 

       Mandatory Approval: Authors must confirm that all procedures were approved by an appropriate ethics committee (e.g., Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee - IACUC).

       Reporting: The manuscript must include a statement confirming that the study adhered to relevant institutional or national guidelines followed.

 

3. Field Studies and Environmental Research

For studies involving fieldwork, the collection of biological specimens, or research in protected areas, authors must confirm that all necessary permits and licenses were obtained from the relevant local, national, or international authorities. The manuscript must state the source of all permits, including the permit number.

 

4. Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses

Systematic reviews and meta-analyses must be registered in a publicly accessible database (e.g., PROSPERO) prior to commencing the review. Furthermore, the reporting of these studies must strictly follow the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines [2] to ensure transparency and completeness in the methodology and findings.

 

5. Authorship and Conflicts of Interest

LSP adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) [3] regarding authorship, conflicts of interest, data integrity, and plagiarism. Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may affect the interpretation or presentation of their research.
