Withdrawal Policy

The Life Sciences Perspectives (LSP) provides a clear and fair withdrawal policy to ensure that authors are supported during the submission process and that the journal maintains integrity in its operations.

Key Aspects of the Withdrawal Policy:

  1. Withdrawal Before Submission:

    • Authors may withdraw their manuscript at any time before the manuscript is formally submitted for peer review. No fees will be charged, and there will be no further obligations.
    • Authors should notify the journal’s editorial team promptly if they wish to withdraw their manuscript before submission, ensuring that the manuscript is removed from the system.
  2. Withdrawal After Submission but Before Peer Review:

    • If a manuscript is submitted but has not yet entered the peer review process, authors can still withdraw it. In this case, the manuscript will be removed from consideration, and no publication fees will be charged.
    • A formal withdrawal request must be made to the editorial team, specifying the manuscript ID and reason for withdrawal.
  3. Withdrawal During Peer Review:

    • Authors may request to withdraw their manuscript during the peer review process. However, if the manuscript has already been assigned to reviewers and is under active review, withdrawal may incur a processing fee (if applicable) to cover the editorial and review costs.
    • If the manuscript has been reviewed but not yet accepted, the journal will allow for withdrawal, but authors may be required to explain the reason for withdrawal.
  4. Withdrawal After Acceptance but Before Publication:

    • Once a manuscript is accepted for publication, authors are expected to complete the process through to publication. However, in exceptional circumstances, authors may request to withdraw their manuscript after acceptance but before it is published.
    • In such cases, the manuscript may be withdrawn, but the authors may be responsible for any editorial or processing fees already incurred.
    • If the manuscript has already entered the production process (including editing or typesetting), the journal may not be able to grant a full withdrawal and may charge a fee to cover the incurred costs.
  5. Withdrawal After Publication:

    • Once an article has been published, it cannot be withdrawn. If an author wishes to retract an article after publication, the journal will issue a formal retraction notice. The article will remain publicly accessible, but a clear retraction statement will be added to maintain transparency.
    • Retraction requests are handled in accordance with the journal’s ethics and misconduct policies and will be reviewed by the editorial board before approval.
  6. Fee Refunds in the Event of Withdrawal:

    • Withdrawal before acceptance (during submission or peer review) generally does not incur any fees.
    • In cases where fees have been paid for publication (e.g., article processing charges), the journal will not refund these fees once the manuscript has been accepted for publication or once the production process has started.
    • If a manuscript is withdrawn before the review process or before acceptance, any fees paid will generally be refunded, minus any administrative or processing charges.
  7. Notification and Procedure:

    • Authors wishing to withdraw a manuscript should submit a formal written request to the editorial team via email. This request should include the manuscript ID, title, and a brief explanation for the withdrawal.
    • The editorial team will confirm the withdrawal request and notify the authors once it has been processed.
    • Authors should not withdraw a manuscript by simply submitting a new version elsewhere without following the formal withdrawal procedure, as this could be considered unethical.
  8. Final Decision on Withdrawal:

    • The final decision regarding the withdrawal of a manuscript rests with the editorial board. In cases where there are concerns about ethical considerations, such as simultaneous submissions or misconduct, the journal may take further steps to address the issue.

This withdrawal policy ensures clarity and fairness in the publication process, helping both authors and the journal maintain transparency and integrity. The goal is to support authors’ rights while upholding the journal’s high academic and ethical standards.
